The Pan Pacific Convention Concept:
The first convention was billed as
"Oceans Of Harmony"
The
OCEANS OF
HARMONY Convention was very successfully held in Auckland's
Sheraton Hotel
October 1994, and participants included all of the NZ choruses and quartets (it
was their NZABS annual convention/competition), Three choruses and several
quartets from AAMBS
plus the Aloha Chorus and one quartet from
Hawaii.
The second convention "Pan Pacific"
was hosted by the Aloha Chapter in Honolulu in 1998
The Overall winners were
Chorus .... Garden City Chorus FWD
Quartet ..
Buck 39 FWD
The third convention took place in
Melbourne Australia 2001
This convention took
place just four days after the Sept 11th terrorist attack in New York and many
of the participants from USA were delayed. Some failed to arrive due to airline
restrictions and cancellations. The convention was attended by Australia, New
Zealand, Japan and Hawaii choruses and many quartets.
The Overall winners were
Chorus .... The Banana Blenders from Queensland Australia
Quartet .. Southern
Cross from Queensland Australia
The fourth convention returned
to New Zealand. This time hosted in Christchurch 2004
This was attended by six
Choruses from Australia, The Aloha chorus from Hawaii,
The Tokyo Barbers from Japan, plus all NZ Choruses. Many quartets from all
regions competed.
The Overall winners were
Chorus .... The Blenders from Queensland Australia
Quartet .. Musical Island Boys New Zealand
The fifth convention returned to Hawaii in
2008
This convention was well attended, with New Zealand,
Australia, Japan, Hawaii, Alaska & Vancouver all competing in the open chorus
competition.
